This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply a broad range of competencies in a varied work context in the music industry, using some discretion and judgement and theoretical knowledge. They may provide support to a team.

Sound, Composition and Events

Would you like to become a Sound Engineer, M.C, Music Producer or DJ? Are you passionate about Music? Are you keen to work with a group of students that are very keen to excel in the music industry?

This program may very well be for you…

All Certificate III in Music Industry (Technical Production) participants will be involved in recording, performances and film clip making….and working together on group projects, with a focus on creating as many creative outcomes as possible!

NB – This course is primarily a ‘sound production and technology’ based course. For part of this course, students will use p.c’s to create their own compositions.

To increase overall music skills, and to enhance recordings – students will be given the opportunity to include or develop instrumental skills if they so desire. We welcome those with a passion for music / technology, and existing musicians alike! : )

No experience is necessary…but, students must have a strong interest in the music industry, be computer literate….and they must be keen to work on an exciting, long term music project.

Nominal Hours: 375

SACE Credits: 50 Stage 2 SACE Credits

Class Time: 35 x 5 hour Sessions

LMA / Circuit Time Records Performances: Minimum of 15 – 75 hours.

*Students will participate in a range of activities created and negotiated. Such events will occur throughout the duration of the course.

Home Practice: 175 hours over the duration of the course (5 hours / week).

Structured Work Placement: Yes, 40 hours required for assessment.

*to be negotiated with each participant. Participants will choose an area of interest within the music / entertainment / technology industry and attend the equivalent of one week of work experience.
